Canyon, Texas – For a second consecutive year, the Quiz Bowl team from the West Texas A & M University Quiz Bowl is the best in the country.
The WT TOP team won the first place of June 22 at the reciprocal conference of reciprocal meats of the American Meat Science Association in Columbus, Ohio, beating 34 other teams.
“This team has worked incredibly hard to not only learn the large amount of information relating to meat and breeding industries, but also be competitive in a quick and high pressure setting,” said Ryan Heitschmidt, one of the team’s coaches and a student in Animal Science in Nazareth. “It was a group of very talented and dedicated students, and I could not be more proud of the way they played and represented WT.”
This is the third year that a WT team won the national championship since the start of the competition in 2002.
In the bowl quiz, teams of four contribute to a double elimination medium. Each round offers 20 questions in head and 20 launch questions; The fastest teams to respond correctly are attributed points.
A second WT Squad also happened in the fifth round of the competition.
