One of Winnipeg’s most decorated professional athletes is home.
Winnipeg jets announced Friday morning that Jonathan Toews would return to his hometown the next NHL season and adapt to jets on a one -year contract.
According to NHL rules, jets cannot make the agreement official before the contract was signed and registered with the League office on July 1.
Toews, 37, who grew up in Saint -Vital, is known in the world of hockey for his impeccable CV – which includes three Stanley cups in five years as Chicago Blackhawks captain and international cheer for Canada, winning two Olympic gold medals, a world championship, the Hockey World Cup and two junior gold medals global.

His trophy case includes Conn Smythe, Selke and Mark Messier Leadership Awards.
“We are delighted to add a proven winner like Jonathan Toews to the Winnipeg jets,” general director Kevin Cheveldayoff said.
“It will be a unique opportunity for Jonathan to play for his hometown team. His talent, his dynamism and his experience will be an excellent complement to our club. We will refuse more comments until July 1. ”
Health problems have taken a step back after his 16 seasons career with the Blackhawks, with evils, including chronic inflammatory response syndrome and along the Ice, although he has actively worked on a return to the NHL in recent years.
