Whoopi Goldberg makes its mark on the world of sport by highlighting female athletes.

The EGOT winner has had a long -standing passion for sport, which she attributes to her brother.

“He took me everywhere. When I became famous, I took him everywhere,” said Goldberg. “I wanted to do everything he did. He played softball. He played baseball. He played basketball … and I wanted to do it, and there was no room for us.”

Goldberg therefore co -founded the Any female sports networkThe very first world sports network dedicated exclusively to female sports. The network presents sports such as table tennis, cricket, grass hockey, basketball and football.

But it took time to create. Goldberg said she has been working on this network for 15 years.

“Everyone I took the idea … They tapped me on my head and said no one wanted to look at female sports-but they do it, I do,” she said.

This is not limited to sports in the United States, an important factor for Goldberg when it helped create the international platform.

“I wanted to make sure it was a global network because there is more in the world of sport than us,” she said. “I wanted us to see what others do.”

Goldberg hopes to engage women in every corner of the world.

“There are parts of the world where women do not have much rights, but they have the right to play sports,” she said. “So, I think I think of these countries as well as these women, because if we can engage women with sports and people can see that they too can be useful, we can put money.”

Although Goldberg has no favorite sport to watch, she said to “CBS Mornings”, “I really want to convince us to get into the racing car.”

AWSN broadcasts on Pluto TV, which is part of Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS News.
