In business, Daniel A. d’Aiello ’68, H’20, cannot be considered an icon, and a large part of his success is rooted in his respect for the American army and his education at the University of Syracuse. THE Martin J. Whitman management school is proud to announce that this former dedicated student, the syndic of life of the University of Syracuse and the generous supporter will address the Whitman class of 2025 during the invitation of this year.
D’Aniello is co-founder and emeritus president of the investment capital company, The Carlyle Group, created in 1987.
Member of Beta Gamma Sigma, the trade fraternity of Syracuse, Anielo is a graduate of Magna Cum Laude from the University of Syracuse. He was drafted in the American navy, where he was an eminent naval graduate of the school of official candidates, as well as an officer of the offer on board the USS wasp (CVS 18). After serving his country, Aiello obtained an MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1974.
“We could not be more excited than Dan d’Aielo speaking to our graduates this year,” said the acting dean of Whitman, Alex McKelvie. “His world sense of business is unrivaled, and I am sure that his advice, according to his own success, his leadership and his generous spirit, resonate with our exceptional graduates of the school of Whitman in 2025 who are eager to soak up his wisdom while they are embarking on the next stages of their commercial career.”
In assessment of the solid foundations he received at the University of Syracuse and his commitment to the American army, of Aiello was a much appreciated partner of the management of the Whitman School of Management, sitting at the Whitman Advisory Council (WAC) and also by establishing the learning opportunities of Aniello. His other commitments include the Chairman’s President of the Chancellor and co -president of Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) Advisory Council.
The longtime supporters of the University of Syracuse, Dan and his Gayle wife have offered the name of name to the Daniel and Gayle of Aiello building, which houses the National Veterans Resource Center in 2018. When the building is opened, Dan announced an additional transformative endowment and a gift of appointment
The unshakable support of D’Aniellos at the University of Syracuse continued in 2022 when they committed a gift to support and extend the program of Daniel and Gayle University of Aiello Syracuse in Florence, which is part of the Syracuse Abroad program in Florence, Italy. The program has been able to develop student opportunities, provide more support for teachers, upgrade facilities, further develop the study program and provide support for students to attend the study experience abroad, in particular veterans and military connected students. More recently, from Anielo and his wife made a transformer gift to extend the Catholic center of the University of Syracuse.
The convening of the Whitman School of Management in 2025 will take place on Saturday May 10 at 4 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome.
