In September 2022, the TREVOR project began to provide specialized support for LGBTQ young people via the 988 Lifeline. Federal funding for these specialized services will no longer be available via the 988 program from July 17. The Trevor project estimates In the United States, more than 1.8 million LGBTQ young people in the United States seriously envisage suicide each year, and at least one suicide attempt every 45 seconds. They also declared that their advisers helped around 500,000 people in 2024, 231,000 of whom went through line 988.
California resources
In California, 12 centers trained crisis advisers to answer 988 calls / cats / SMS of assistance to support for support for support suicide / health attacks. In addition, California offers digital mental health support for young people, young adults and families via Calhope for non -critical moments.
