There is still time for twists and turns, turns and drops of roller coasters with heart strokes, the pulse of live entertainment and a variety of attractions like six flags Great America in Gurnee opens on Friday for its 49th season.
After the opening of April 18, 300 acres park on Grand Avenue east of Interstate 94 will work on weekends and certain days. The daily operation begins on May 20.
The “Thrill Capital of the Midwest” has 17 roller coaster, major shows and three areas on the theme of children.
The new opening of this year at the start of the summer is the anger of 180 feet high from Rakshasa, the steepest and most reversed diving coat.
The runners hang on the edge before falling from 171 feet at an angle of 96 degrees. The subcontractor has five inversions and will reach a speed of 67 miles per hour on 3,239 foot of the track.
Visitors will note that the main door construction project is finished, which facilitates the passage through security screening and in the park to start driving, spokesperson Tony Clark noted.
“The excitement surrounding the anger of Rakshasa, the first new park’s coaster since 2019, will highlight the county and will arouse enormous interest and visitors,” said Maureen Riedy, president of Visit Lake County Tourim Bureau.

Lake County generates $ 2 billion a year in visitors’ spending and six flags is one of the main destination drivers, she added.

This season also, the “Summerbration” range of the park includes a massive fireworks demonstration on each night of the stars evening event, from July 3 to 5; Great American Nights features a new night parade, live music, specialized drinks and more, July 12-August. 3; And, a celebration of Latin American cultures with live music, dance and other activities on the birthplace during Viva la Fiesta, August 16-17 and 23-24.
The pleasure continues in the fall with Oktoberfest, Fright Fest and Kids Boo Fest from September 13 to November 2.
“Whether you are a gourmet, a non-cavalier who just likes unique entertainment or a lover of subhumatoes who seeks to conquer the anger of the world records in Rakshasa, there is literally something for everyone and we are delighted to dive in the season,” said Park President John Krajnak by announcing the new season.
The water park adjacent Hurricane Harbor opens on May 24.
