- I am not a car person and I could drive anything, but my husband likes cars.
- After doing tons of research, he decided that we needed a Tesla Y model.
- Ensure it is very expensive, so we sell it and look for a hybrid.
Certainly, I have never been an automotive person. If it was me, I would always drive the 1979 Monte Carlo I learned to drive In. This giant had a red-rose interior with pink, and I could easily pile up all my friends and our cheerleading equipment on the back.
But alas, I married a guy from the car. If he sees headlights or rear lights of a car with a house pâté, he can name the brand, the model and the current value on the Kelley Blue book.
He had been Dream of a Tesla For years, he has done a road trip in the model of a friend S. “It is so fast and elegant. And there is so much storage because there is no engine,” he sang. As Teslas has become more popular, it has become like the version of our family of the Bug Slug game. “There is a Tesla!” Our sons were crying at the back of our Nissan Pathfinder.
We bought a Y model
As more electric vehicles Entering the market, we decided to join the club. So my husband did what he is doing best – research. After considering Riviens and Polestars, he landed on the Tesla Y model.
It had a decent scope and a large load infrastructure. Most of our conduct was made in the city, but we have made occasional trips to visit the family in Iowa or in the North for family holidays. He also had the necessary storage capacity for our family of four people, our dog and luggage for a week. When we did our first road test, I also fell in love with the Y model.
I learned to love it
The Tesla came with a learning curve. During our first longer trip, my husband and I experienced 30 miles stretched because we did not stop to charge when the car told us. We did the calculation and thought we could go to our destination. As we did – after turning off the air conditioning and the radio and slowed down 40 mph on the highway to record the battery. Fortunately, our wedding survived. Needless to say, we have always stopped to load after that.
It also took a practice with a driving in a pedal, but I soon loved it. I also appreciated the acceleration of my Y model, which has resulted in my first speeding ticket since 1999. I am sure that the bright red color made me an easy target.
Although it is sometimes boring to stop for a load during a road trip, we used to a slight drawback and used time to make a short walk, browse goods of a strange convenience store and play silly car games.
Soon we discovered a major drawback
When we saw the Final insurance quoteWe thought there must be an error. But no – it was really going to cost almost as much as our monthly grocery bill.
We knew that our insurance premiums would be raised because we have two young adult thread drivers, but we had no idea to add a Tesla would be Sell-A-Kidney Cher.
Electric cars are generally more expensive to ensure that gas and tested vehicles have some of the highest bonuses. With our current policy, the Tesla costs more than $ 333 per month, while our gas Audi costs half.
Since then, we have learned that Teslas has been scandalously expensive to ensure because they are expensive to repair, and the company is the market on the parts. Since the repair process can take a long time, insurance companies are blocked in the longer -term rental bill. We also learned that because Teslas drives so quickly, their risk of insurance rating is just below a performance vehicle.
Of course, we also had several conversations on the Musk controversyBut at the end of the day, our portfolio and our family need to dictate the decision to sell our Tesla this spring.
Now we buy a plug-in hybrid
These are all factors that we did not know that we should consider before making our purchase, but they are definitely on the new list of my husband while he is doing research on our next vehicle. Now, we are on the market for a rechargeable hybrid, because they are a fraction of the price to ensure and offer several of the same environmental advantages and costs that we have enjoyed with our Tesla – especially since most of our driving are a few kilometers from our city house.
I’m still not a car person. Thus, while my husband dives into research on plug -in hybrids, I will be there, hoping that our next car is just as easy to drive, is cheap to insure and – if I really have luck – a color that does not have a speeding ticket. I may never recover my Monte Carlo, but at least I will drive something that will not force us to remove a second mortgage just for insurance.
