OLiving oil has long been linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, certain cancers and inflammation. Recent studies also indicate that it could have cognitive advantages.
All of this gave Filippo BerioOne of the best-selling olive oil marks in the country, a vision of a greater mission: how can it help influence healthy lifestyles for us consumers thanks to collaborations that focus on the education of Americans on the impacts of the well-being of health integration in their daily diet?
Thanks to partnerships with several parts with the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and the Culinary Careers program (C • CAP) Filippo Berio does exactly this.
The vice-president of Marketing Marco de Feo said that the 157-year-old Italian brand (which makes its American headquarters in Lyndhurst) undertakes to make incursions in the movement of health and well-being, demonstrating how foods rich in nutrients like olive oil can be integrated transparently into eating habits to help to prevent diseases.
“It is our responsibility as an organization and industry to highlight this set of research and to help Americans adopt changes in lifestyle that can lead to a lower risk of illness and a healthier future,” he said.
In 2025, De FEO said that the brand will implement new social responsibility programs, promoted educational content and increased event sponsorships to amplify health considerations and vital missions of its partners.
This year, Filippo Berio strives to rely on a collaborative relationship of several decades with C • CAP to develop a specific olive oil study program for students nationwide.
The study program formalizes a continuous effort to educate more than 25,000 culinary students in more than 186 schools on the use of olive oil as a nutritious and tasty greasy alternative in the kitchen. Students would obtain full education on this timeless ingredient, including specific health benefits, various culinary applications, pairs, a range of grape varieties, tasting techniques to understand flavors and quality, the versatility of use and substitution in various kitchens.
Since C • CAP programs can start from college, the olive oil -focused study program has the potential to influence food choices for young Americans – and their families, because students share their new knowledge at home.
C • The CAP co-executive director, Tanya Steel, is excited by the possibilities.
“Olive oil is a vital ingredient in the C • CAP culinary experience and the study program, not only because of its variety of flavors and vast applications, but because of its many health benefits,” she said. “We are delighted to work with Filippo Berio to better inform our students and train the next generation of chefs to use healthier and healthier alternatives to turn the trend for unhealthy eating habits in the United States”
In addition to maintaining its longtime alliance with C • CAP, Filippo Berio officials say they are determined in the company’s partnership with ADDF, which aims to support the most innovative drug, biomarkers and prevention development programs in the world.
Thanks to the generosity of its donors, the ADDF has granted more than $ 370 million to finance more than 765 research programs in 21 countries. Filippo Berio concluded this collaboration in 2024 to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, contribute crucial funds to support revolutionary research funded by addition and increase global awareness of lifestyle changes, including the adoption of a nutritive regime, which can positively affect cognitive health.
Dr. Howard Fillit, co-founder and director of sciences of the ADDF, is delighted by the partnership.
“Prevention is a key pillar in the ADDF fight against Alzheimer’s disease,” he said. “The delay at the start of only five years of disease can lead to a prevalence up to 50% lower. And studies show that lifestyle interventions such as a healthy diet and exercise can play a fundamental role. We greatly appreciate our partners, including Filippo Berio, who supports us in the progress of this critical research. »»
In 2024, Filippo Berio sponsored and participated in two ADDF events, the seventh annual memory of the organization and fundraising of House of Purple. In addition to contributing valuable funds, the brand supports the ADDF via traditional and social communication vehicles as well as national retail activation in the store’s collar stores placed on Filippo Berio olive oil bottles to further increase the visibility of the ADDF mission.
De Feo said it all depends on the vision of serving a greater mission.
“Olive oil has been a dietary basic food for centuries, and it is not surprising that research discovers a multitude of cognitive and other benefits that are associated with it,” he said. “At Filippo Berio, attention to quality was consistent throughout our history, returning to 1867.
“We use this same lens in the development of all our products, using simple and uncompromising ingredients and authentic preparations to ensure that consumers have healthy choices and in taste always available in any kitchen – at home or in restaurants.”
