While the diploma season arrives each year, the pioneer offers a graduate of each college and high school in the coverage area. Kylee Seitz Senior is a star of this year
Traveler expeditionary school,
which will organize its ceremony at the start on Wednesday June 4.
The pioneer provided Seitz with a series of questions to answer:
What are your projects after graduation?
After finishing my secondary studies, I intend to go to the University of Minnesota in Crookston to study the veterinary sciences. I will spend four years there, then I transfer to another university to obtain my doctorate.
What has bitten your interest in veterinary science?
The main reason why I want to be a veterinarian is that I have always liked to be with animals, and I want to make a difference in their life, but I also like that it is so diverse. You can really customize what you are focusing on, that you are going into the practice of large animals, mixed animal practice or pet practice. It’s just a big field.
Have you had a favorite class throughout high school?
I really enjoyed most of my science lessons. I specifically liked biology because learning how things are evolving and growing fascinates me, which has probably participated in the reason why I want to enter veterinary science.
What activities did you participate?
I have been at the Garden Club of the Expeditionary School Travelers for a long time, helping every time I could. We maintain and expand the garden, which went from weeding to the construction of raised garden beds. Apart from that, I was able to volunteer at Great River Rescue with my school, helping them clean the main areas and socialize animals.
What was the greatest struggle or difficulty that you have overcome in your life?
One of my greatest difficulties was to have to balance work and school. I was taking hours at work to save money, but I find it difficult to pay attention to school.
What do you consider your greatest success?
I would say that my greatest success was to learn to balance work and school, while saving as much money as possible. I was able to save enough money to buy myself a car.
What is your greatest mentor?
I would say that my parents are my greatest mentors. They have always told me to do anything that makes me happy and how important it is to be myself. My parents made me who I am today, and I am grateful for everything they have done.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
If I have free time in summer, I am normally outside sitting near the campfire or gardening. I also like hiking, camping and fishing if I have someone who can come with me. In winter, I like to make ice fishing with my family, especially my grandfather.
