Gulfport, Miss. (WLOX) – The blow of a pen leads to great things for the University of Mississippi in the South and the Gulf Coast Business Council. Both combine to help strengthen local workforce.
“It will be an intensive training of nine months to help emerging leaders who are in companies to help technology, leadership and best practices,” said USM president, Dr. Joe Paul.
Dr. Paul explains that the Executive Management Academy will soon be trained on the USM Long Beach campus. The vision of creating an executive education center will occur inside Hardy Hall. This will benefit both Mississippi and long -term students.
“We bring our best teachers in fields of leadership, business, technology and other external experts to help them develop their skills beyond their college studies as executives, emerging managers and coastal businesses,” said Dr. Paul.
The training will include elements such as a continuing training certificate and a digital badge issued by Southern Miss, as well as school scholarships provided for courses exceeding registration benchmarks.
Dr. Paul said the future was brilliant by his former Alma Mater, adding that he wanted to make sure that students are well prepared to contribute to the local economy.
“A skilled workforce remaining at the forefront is vital for the economic development of Mississippi. And the Gulf coast paves the way in economic development; This place jumps. So, we want to be able to provide this so that we can stay at the forefront, “said Dr. Paul.
The collaboration and planning of the program for the first day of the Academy will begin this summer.
