The operator of a ferry service between the island of Vancouver and the state of Washington says that he is sorry for having “involuntarily” increased the Canadian flag upside down when he entered the port of Victoria on Sunday.

The company based in Seattle declared in a statement that it is “sincerely” apologetic for “lack of respect or involuntary confusion” that the situation of the flag caused.

The Black Ball Ferry Line’s website indicates that it does the passenger and vehicle ferry daily between Victoria and Port Angeles, with daily passages of 90 minutes.
