Marquette, Michigan (WLUC) – Students in college and high schools showed their STEM skills during the region’s scientific Olympiad tournament 1 on Saturday morning.
Eighteen increases in the rise went to Northern Michigan University to compete for a place in the state tournament.
There were 23 events for middle school students and 23 for high school students. Events varied from criminalic to meteorology through engineering and everywhere between the two.
Renee Jewett, coordinator of the Seaborg Center program, said that the objective of the event is “practical, mental”, which means that students learn more when it is practical.
“Our mission at the center of the Seorg is that the stem is for everyone, so I think you see yourself in a rod field … You come here and you compete in towers, you build a tower today as You could be an engineer in the future, ”said Jewett. “So, to see that you are able to do everything you put in mind.”
High -level teams will qualify for the Michigan State University state tournament in the spring.
