THE Charlotte Green InitiativeGreen fund led by UNC Charlotte students, allocates $ 60,000 a year to sustainable projects on campus. This spring, CGI financed projects for bicycle repair stations, bicycle events and a cargo bicycle pilot program.
Its support will increase the outdoor bicycle repair stations from one to six, with new equipment installed near the student accommodation and the greenway, and the organization has financed the “everything that rolls” popular events. Students working for the durability office will pilot the e-cargo bike as a delivery vehicle, as a model to accommodate workers who do not have a driving license.
This year’s Charlotte bike price ceremony has doubled for a fundraising event for Voyages for childrenAn inclusive community that makes youth programming using cycling as a growth and connection tool. The university works with the organization by donating abandoned bikes from the campus to its “Re-Cycleur”, a bicycle store that recycles bikes, parts and accessories.
