University of California, Davis, Chancellor Gary S. May made three UC Davis Health Leadership appointments: Michael Condrin As interim general manager, Bruce Lee Hall as an acting vice-chancellor of human health sciences, and Susan Murin As a permanent dean of the medical school.
Condrin and Hall will serve in their respective temporary roles from February 15, 2025 and will present themselves directly to Chancellor May. The appointment of Murin is in force from January 1, 2025 and will take place until June 30, 2026. It will present itself to the Vice-Chancellor in interim.
“I am very happy to have these strong leaders in place on our Sacramento campus to continue to advance our strategic goals,” said May. “Mike, Bruce and Susan provide a significant experience that will position UC Davis Health more to succeed as our health business develops to offer the best care to patients, education and research in the region.”
Michael Condrin
As an interim CEO, Condrin will establish strategic and long -term strategic and commercial objectives and objectives, will monitor financial performance, supervise hospital and clinical operations and ensure that UC Davis Health provides patient care services of high quality.
Condrin has more than 20 years of experience as an university health framework with progressive responsibility in ambulatory care operations, strategic planning, financial management, doctors’ partnership and personnel management within the University of California. He began his career at UC Davis in 2002 and occupied various administrative roles, including the director of clinical operations and the co-leader of strategy and ambulatory operations. More recently, he was head of the UC Davis Medical Center.
Bruce Lee Hall
Hall will be responsible for the strategic orientation of the UC Davis Health, including the surveillance of the UC Davis Medicine School and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing. He will participate in the development of campus levels and strategic implementation through members of the Chancellor’s Leadership Council and the Council of Deans and Vice-Chancellers.
Hall joined UC Davis in 2024 as clinical director, responsible for monitoring all clinical operations. His previous role was at Washington University and BJC Healthcare in St. Louis, where he was a teacher of surgery and the medical system of the non -profit system. Its areas of expertise include measurement of performance, improvement in quality and facilitation of changes. For more than a decade, he taught economics and health care management courses, and guests have given conferences on subjects such as health care economy, insurance theory, Health policy, health care management and industry change.
Susan Murin
Murin was a temporary dean from November 2021 and is a professor and clinician in the Division of pulmonary care, intensive care and sleep. Under his direction, the Medicine School obtained a complete liaison committee on the accreditation of eight -year -old medical education. It has launched several critical initiatives to achieve efficiency, coherence and equity, as well as historical summits from year to year in the financing of research. Murin has held numerous management positions throughout his 29 -year term at UC Davis Health. She was vice-dean for clinical affairs and executive director of the UC Davis Medical Group.
The appointment of Condrin was approved by the president of the University of California, Michael V. Drake, and the Committee of Health Services of the Council of Regents at his meeting of January 23.
Although the structure of UC Davis health leadership in the longer term has not yet been finalized, the chancellor can expect to start national research for at least one of the management positions at the start of spring.
