Washington (TNND) – The Director of White House and Technology, Michael Kratsios, suggested on Monday that the United States has a technology that can “manipulate time and space”.
The comment occurred during remarks on “The Golden Age of American Innovation” during the retirement of endless borders in Austin, Texas. Kratsios said at the event that American technological developments were in a standstill compared to the 20th century.
“A gap is between our moment and the speed of transformation that America has experienced the middle of the century,” he said. “Progress has slowed down.”
He continued by explaining a recent “stagnation” in technological development occurred by choice. The nation, he argued, is “capable of much more”.
“Our technologies allow us to manipulate time and space,” said Kratsios. “They leave the destitute distance, cause the growth of things and improve productivity.”
Kratsios did not explain to which technology its remark has referred, although the address is mentioning artificial intelligence, biotechnology and semiconductors.
The remarks come when the Trump administration has announced several exemptions to allow technological companies to escape its recent price. Apple watches, laptops and semiconductor equipment are part of a series of articles exempt from narcotic prices on Chinese products and the basic tariff of 10% applied to all other imports.
On Wednesday, the president also published an information sheet for his technology involvement plan in his plan to increase government efficiency. This document cited a presidential note ordering government agencies to “make maximum use of technology” for infrastructure projects.
