President Donald Trump said Thursday that he will soon announce a new candidate for the American lawyer in Washington, DC, replacing Ed Martin, whose appointment had been migrated in danger in recent days in the middle of what seemed to be an insurmountable repression of the Republicans in Capitol Hill.

“He is a great person, and he did not get the support of the people I thought,” Trump told the journalists in the White House. “I can only lift this little phone so many times in a day, but we have someone else who will be great,” he added.

Trump is Considering the name Fox News and former prosecutor Jeanine Pirro as an American lawyer, two familiar sources told CNN. Pirro, according to sources, is not the only person considered, and it is possible that Trump can choose another candidate.

The president said Thursday that Martin would assume a role in the Ministry of Justice “or other”.

CNN contacted Martin and the American lawyer’s office for DC to comment.

The failed appointment marks a rare example of congress republicans who break with the president for a high -level choice. Until the announcement, the White House had insisted on the fact that it was held near Martin for the post, with the president lobby Legislators to support him.

Trump and Prosecutor General Pam Bondi will discuss who could be best named afterwards, but officials do not know when this conversation will take place, people have been familiar with the process.

The Attorney General told journalists on Wednesday that she planned to speak with Martin of “what’s going on” with his appointment. It was not immediately clear if this call had happened.

Senator Chuck Grassley, president of the powerful judicial committee of the Senate, responsible for advancing Martin to a full vote by the Senate, said Trump’s remarks according to which he had not been informed that the president was probably drawing the appointment. “I have not been informed,” said the republican of Iowa to CNN.

Martin’s appointment was the first derailed On Monday, when Senator Thom Tillis, a voting of swing to the key to the key, informed the White House that he would not support the president’s candidate for the position on the concerns linked to Martin’s opinions on January 6, 2021, attacking the American Capitol.

Tillis, who sits on the jury, met Martin on Monday on Martin. Last week, the North Carolina Republican told CNN that he had “serious questions” about the appointment, given the previous comments of Martin denigrating police officers who defended the Capitol.

Before serving as an acting American lawyer, Martin was a defense lawyer for a handful of rememelles on January 6 and attended Trump speech at the Ellipse near the Capitol on the day of the attack. On his podcast in 2024, Martin said that two officers who defended the Capitol on January 6 “seem to have lied” about being “abused” and accused them of perjury possible.

In written responses to sworn senators, Martin refused to say unequivocal There was violence on January 6, 2021 and would not respond directly if he thought that the 2020 elections had been stolen. He also did not close the door to the idea that Trump could serve a third term as president, which would be unconstitutional.

The public opposition of Tillis meant that the Republicans did not have the votes to advance Martin, blocking the appointment in a committee and putting it in place to miss a critical period for confirmation before the expiration of its interim position on May 20.

Senator Lindsey Graham noted on Thursday that the Republicans “did not have the votes”, saying of Trump’s announcement: “I thought it was probably a good decision, given all concerns.”

The Southern Carolina Republican also suggested that he had an overview of the president’s next choice for the position, saying to CNN: “Stay listening. It’s going to be tall. ”

The White House as recently as Tuesday said that it was impatiently awaiting the appointment of Martin, spokesperson Alex Pfeiffer describing him as “the right man for work” in a statement. Trump officials at the time consulted legislative advisers on the following possible stages to try to advance the appointment, even when she blocked in a committee.

Martin’s appointment process was controversial since the president officially appointed him for the position in March.

At least three different opportunities, Martin has updated his compulsory disclosure at the congress detailing all his media appearances spent after his initial deposit has not reported nearly 200 appearances he had made in recent years, many of which in the far -right media and the Russian state media.

A CNN Kfile analysis of the initial disclosure form of 27 pages of Martin reveals that it is not about to capture the extent of his appearances with the media, and there is a lack of reference to at least 240 interviews with podcast, radio and television he has done in the past two years only.

He also had to respond to his Anterior praise From Timothy Hale-Cusanelli, a rioter from the Capitol who is an alleged Nazi sympathizer, despite his more recent denunciation.

Despite Martin’s attempts to distance himself from Hale-Cusanelli, a CNN Kfile review of Martin’s podcast shows that he praised Hale-Cusanelli several times in interviews with him, two of which have discussed openly-and rejected-allegations according to which Hale-Cusanelli has had pro-Nazi views, including an infamous photo of HALE-CUSANNE.

In an episode in July 2024, Martin said: “Tim Hale is an extraordinary guy. I learned very well.

And in response to a series of questions posed to him by the members of the Senate Judicial Committee, Martin said under oath he did not remember Some of his most controversial past statements.

Asked in one case if he has ever assimilated a democratic politician to Adolf Hitler, Martin wrote: “I don’t remember having done so.”

However, in an episode of October 2022 on his own podcast, “the pro-American relationship with Ed Martin,” said Martin, “President Joe Biden is Hitler.”

“There is only one character on the world scene at the moment that really uses some of the techniques, perhaps many of them who have been used by people like Hitler and Hitler himself. And it’s Joe Biden,” added Martin.

During his short term as an actual American lawyer, Martin, longtime conservative activist and former president of the Missouri Republican Party, drew attention to having referred to the largest federal prosecutors in the country like lawyers for President Trumps (SIC) “and the move of senior lawyers who worked on January 6, 2021, Capitol Riot case.

The senior officials of the Ministry of Justice, who had preferred another candidate for employment, had to have Martin warned of some of his public activities since their entry into office. Nevertheless, they had accepted the fact that he was the choice of Trump and did everything they could to help him confirm, sources told CNN previously.

Before Thursday’s announcement Trump and Martin Allies clearly indicated that the president was delighted with Martin’s professional performance.

“Martin is President Trump’s favorite lawyer,” said a familiar source with his CNN appointment process.
