President Donald TrumpIn a memo on Friday at the end of the evening, ordered the federal agencies to revoke security authorizations for more than a dozen of its perceived political enemies, including the former vice-president Kamala Harris and the former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
“I determined that it is no longer in the national interest in the following persons to access classified information,” said Trump in the memo. “I direct by this each executive department and agency manager to take all additional measures if necessary and in accordance with the existing law to revoke the active safety authorizations held by the above -mentioned persons and to immediately cancel their access to classified information.”
The memo applies to classified briefings and to any access that individuals could have had to classified information according to the previous mandate at the Congress.
This decision marks the latest example of Trump drawing security authorizations for political rivals, after the president in February declared that he “immediately” revoked the security authorization of former president Joe Biden and arrested his daily intelligence briefing. He also used similar attributions to Repression on the best law firms.
Friday memo offered the revocation of the Biden security clearance, as well as several others whose Trump administration had previously declared that it had deleted authorizations and continued to block the former president’s access to classified information – assuming that they had it.
In addition to his democratic rivals in the 2016 and 2024 elections, Trump also revoked the authorizations of the two Republicans of the Chamber Committee who investigated his role in the January 6, 2021 insurrection, the former Wyoming representative, Liz Cheney and the former Illinois representative, Adam Kinzinger.
Earlier this month, director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said that in accordance with a Trump directive, she had Revoked security authorizations From a number of people appointed in the memo on Friday, including senior officials from Biden, former Secretary of State Antony Blinken and former national security advisor Jake Sullivan, as well as two of the lawyers who carried legal affairs against Trump: the New York Attorney General Letitia James and the district prosecutor of Manchattan Alvin Bragg.
On Friday, in another late evening memo, Trump revisited resentments spent against the lawyers who opposed him and promised to punish lawyers and law firms by canceling security authorizations and announcing the federal contracts they have.
He ordered the Attorney General Pam Bondi to examine the conduct of lawyers and law firms that the administration considers to have filed frivolous prosecution against the Trump administration or attempted to block immigration initiatives, expanding the president’s repression against the American legal community in the United States.
