Halifax votes should go to the polls in April after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called a by -election To fill the vacant seat by Andy Filmore.
Filmore resigned from the headquarters in August 2024 to present himself to the mayor of Halifax, a position he won in the October elections of the regional municipality.
The by -election, which should take place on April 14, will be long at 44 days. The longest by -election can be 50 days, although it can be maintained as quickly as at least 36 days after the abolition of the brief.
Federally, Halifax has rebounded between the Liberals and the NPD since 1988. Filmore has occupied the siege since the victory of the Liberals in the field in 2015.

The by -election could however be canceled if a federal election is called before the vote in April.
