Travis Wells Senior ended his football career in high school this fall Quabbin As an out -of -competition line player. He plans to play at university next year, still a decision between several offers he received, including Curry College and Western New England University.

Wells launches Quabbin, competing at the launch of weight inside and outdoors as well as the disc in the spring. His main goal was football, but he ended up in the outdoor track team a spring because he thought: “Why not?”
He had nothing else to do during the off -season of football and many of his friends were in the track teams, so he decided to join. He did not know that the fun additional activity would become something in which he excelled.
Wells attributes to the Quabbin Throwing coach Mike Besaw, who is also the defensive coordinator of the football team, for his launch development.
“Having him the three seasons was great, I feel like I was also having a personal relationship with him,” said Wells.

Besaw’s influence helped Wells to establish a link between the two sports, using everyone to help him improve to the other.
“Being a line player and being a launcher goes hand in hand,” said Besaw. “There is a lot of legs of legs that must be done and in football. He fired a lot for us and who takes on agile feet, this game of legs is huge. Fast, explosive, these are all things in there Also.”
Wells’ main event is a disc in the spring but it is not an interior event, so its goal is now the weight launch.

Besaw worked with Wells on his technique and mechanics and saw a breakthrough in his performance throwing performance this season. The senior has already qualified for the state meeting.
Now its objective is to perform well in the States and to qualify in the two events in the spring.
“He took the bull by the horns and improved and it is a credit for him,” said Besaw. “I can do all the teaching I want, but if the athlete is not receptive, nothing will happen. He learned, he applied, and he grew up.”
