US News and World Reports 2025 “Best Online Graduate Programs” ranked the University of Scranton’s online master’s in business programs (excluding MBA) at No. 51 and its online MBA program at No. 128 in the country.
In addition to a general ranking, American news also classified programs according to the categories of criteria used in its methodology. For online master’s in business programs, Scranton ranked 28th for the “student excellence” category, which looked at acceptance rates and undergraduate students’ work experience and GPA, and ranked 33rd for the “student engagement” category, which looked at graduation rates, class sizes, one-year retention rates and best practices such as accreditation by AACSB Internationalamong other factors. For the MBA program, Scranton ranked #105 for “student excellence.”
It’s the 14thth consecutive year that American news has ranked the University’s online programs among the best in the country. The methodology used by American news to determine the ranking has changed several times over the years.
For the ranking of the best online programs 2025, published on January 21, American news reviewed statistical information submitted by schools. The criteria used by American news online business and MBA program rankings included student engagement (30%); peer reputation score (25 percent); faculty degrees and training (15 percent); student excellence (15 percent); and student services and technology (15 percent).
Offers in Scranton online MBA degrees in accounting, business analysis, enterprise resource planning, finance, healthcare management, human resources management, international business and supply chain management; Masters in Accounting, Applied Behavior Analysis, Business Analytics, Cybercrime Investigation and Cybersecurity, Finance, Health Administration, Health Informatics, Human Resource Management, MBA/MHA Dual Degree, Nursing and Speech Pathology, in addition to graduate certificates.
In others American news publications, Scranton was ranked among the top 10 “Best Regional Universities in the North” for 31 consecutive years. American news ranked Scranton No. 6 among northern regional universities in its 2025 guide and No. 6 for “Best Undergraduate Education,” a selection of the nation’s best colleges that express a strong commitment to undergraduate education.
