How did Cincinnati become Porkopolis? The story not so prepared
Cincinnati has long been called Queen City. For a while, however, it was known by a less flattering nickname – Porkopolis.
Condey Island closed for good December 31, 2023, but an annual artistic fair will once again call the field this summer.
Summerfair cincinnatiWho enters his 58th year, comes back to what was previously the amusement park, at 6201 Kellogg Ave., from May 30 to June 1.
The fine art fair will present works of more than 340 juried artists in a dozen categories, including photography, painting, wood, metal, sculpture, jewelry and more. This year marks the 40th consecutive year that the event was organized at Espace Condey Island.
Music and Event Management Inc. (Memi) and the The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra bought the Coney Island field in 2023, as they Plan to build a music campus of $ 118 million on the site. Those responsible say the new place, Nicknamed “Riverbend 2.0” “ will adapt to large -scale shows and attract a wider range of artists sought.
In addition to presenting the work of independent artists, Summerfair collects funds for students and professional artists and artistic organizations throughout the region and attracts more than 20,000 visitors each year. The three -day event also includes a list of regional artists and its gastronomic artistic zone with food and drink options.
