Tulsa, okla. – With all eyes on OKC Thunder, a local program affiliated with the team helps high school and college students access new opportunities in sport, entertainment and technology.
“I love the film,” said Niya Rhodes. “I love to write. I love to produce and be just in the field of entertainment.”
Niya Rhodes says that when she graduated from the college, she wants to become a filmmaker. She already has some practice make movies.

She was able to focus on her passion during the Thunder Fellows program. She had the opportunity to shade the Department of the media OKC Thunder during her stay in the program.
“It gave me a lot of insight, and I wouldn’t have had that without Fellows Thunder,” said Rhodes.

It is one of the dozens of students who have obtained professional development, technical knowledge, mentorship, networking and much more in the past four years.
“I learned to talk to professionals,” said Rhodes. “I learned to carry myself in professional contexts.”
Now Thunder Fellows is looking for his fifth cohort of students to start in the fall.
“In the end, the creation of this ambitious young people’s ecosystem with shiny eyes in Tulsa and Oklahoma,” said Cedric Ikpo.

From the fall, around 25 secondary juniors and seniors, as well as 15 undergraduate students, will participate in several weeks of programming education led by professionals in various fields and will receive assistance with applications and curriculum vitae.
“We are trying to teach some of these fundamental skills that are transferable, whatever the type of career or academic concentration of a student,” said Ikpo.
Of course, with thunder links, students will go to OKC several times during the program to discover the games.
“It was like the most incredible moment,” said Rhodes.

They will also have behind the scenes, practical experiences with basketball affairs.
“Understand and expose our students to all the different career paths that exist in sports and entertainment,” said Ikpo. “So I hope these neurons are starting to shoot and I hope they are starting to see themselves in these positions.”
For students interested in the program, the Thunder Fellows will have an open day on Tuesday, June 3RD From 5.30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
