Global temperatures recorded over the past century show that the Earth is warming at an unprecedented rate. 2024 was hottest year on recordand the last 10 years have been the hottest in history. Each of the last four decades has been warmer than all previous decades, dating back to 1850.
This global warming is due to human activities, mainly to the emission of heat-trapping greenhouse gases, according to the 2023 Synthesis Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. And we see the impacts during heat waves, wildfires, intense rains and coastal flooding.
