The Williams Lake Council voted not to declare a state of local emergency on public security problems.
Last week, the advisers asked the staff to prepare a report on a potential emergency This could provide the city of British Columbia with temporary powers to fight crime and disorder.
This report concluded that the Council has the power to declare the state of emergency, but comments from the emergency service agencies suggested that they had not seen any services to do so.

The report indicated that the province’s Ministry of Public Security also contacted the city, committing more police resources to reduce criminal incidents.
“The fact was, I mean, what will realize the urgency?” Mayor SURINDERPAL RATHOR said.

The staff have now been sentenced to preparing a detailing report how the province’s help makes a difference.
