Are you a undergraduate student at Syracuse University who wants to add a solid understanding of business concepts to your curriculum vitae? The Whitman School of Management is delighted to announce the launch of its first summer affairs academy, an intensive program allowing current first and non -commercial majors at the University of Syracuse to follow five of the six courses required for A business minor during the summer at a reduced price, whatever the year of class.
The Summer Business Academy is designed for non -commercial majors interested in acquiring a fundamental understanding of various commercial principles. Taught by experienced Whitman instructors, courses will cover accounting, finance, marketing, human resources and business law. Students participating in the five courses will receive a grant reducing the total cost of tuition fees to $ 15,000, a saving of more than 50%.
“We are delighted to announce the first Academy of Summer Affairs of the Whitman School, which will offer non -commercial majors of the University of Syracuse a unique opportunity to explore subjects that will complete their current academic track”, explains Alex McKelvie, temporary dean of the Whitman School. “This program will also connect them with peers sharing the same ideas, will allow them to create professional networks with the faculty of Whitman, the elders and the supporters, and to improve their curriculum vitae with a commercial training which will not give them a real advantage in a competitive labor market. “”
A hybrid model, the Summer Business Academy will start with a Maymester session in person (from May 12 to 23) with MGT 355: Strategic Human Resources Management. It will continue with synchronous online courses during summer session 1 (from May 27 to June 27), ACC 201: Essentials of birthday and LPP 255: Introduction to the legal system; and summer session 2 (June 30 to August 8) at the end of 301: Essentials of Finance and Mar301: Essential of Marketing, totaling 15 credits. The last requirement of three credits for the minor, EEE 370: intro to entrepreneurship and emerging businesses, can be completed at Whitman school at any time during the regular academic year – and even among some Syracuse abroad Locations.
According to Lindsay Quilty, deputy dean of the undergraduate programs at Whitman school: “Over the years, we have had many students who asked to take more courses in Whitman while they are pursuing their studies in other colleges of the university and realize how important the company is in each area and industry. Because of this request, Whitman has created the ideal opportunity to learn these essential elements through the Summer Business Academy, an intensive commercial minor at a lower cost. »»
The deadline for request for the 2025 Summer Business Academy is Tuesday, April 15. Students must be able to participate in the Maymester session in person, and the subsidy of tuition fees is only available for students who take 15 complete credits. All candidates must be in a good university position at their home school or their college and it is advisable to speak to their university advisor to understand how the credits of this program will count for the completion of diplomas.
