The seven floors of a high -tech computer building recently built at the USC were affected by a night water leak this week, said a manager.
The university planning and management service confirmed that the leak came from the attic of Ginsburg Hall on Wednesday, but did not comment on the extent of damage.
Members of the installation planning and management team responded when the leak was reported, extinguished the water and started repairs, the ministry said in a Times statement on Friday. There is no estimated calendar for the duration of repairs.
The 116,000 square feet building – officially appointed Dr. Allen and Charlotte Ginsburg Human Constation Hall – opened in September. It was designed by the architectural firm Hok and would have had a $ 130 million budget.
Ginsburg Hall has a part of the most advanced technology in the campus, housing a two -story laboratory dedicated to research and tests of autonomous air vehicles and free robotics laboratories.
It is the first building at the USC to obtain a LEED Platinum certification, the highest level of recognition of the US Green Building Council.
The building has also become a popular place of study For students, briefly winning the viral renown on Tiktok for its soundproofed private study pods.
Researchers working in Ginsburg Hall were informed to go to the building and check their equipment, the university said in its press release, but the building was closed for repairs.
