What, Wash. – A Washington school district voted to ban Transgender athletes to participate in school sports.
Quilcene’s school district rendered this decision on May 7, a meeting of the School Board ending with a 3-2 vote.

The board of directors took the comments of parents and students, with many strong opinions. The members of the board of directors themselves had a trendy back and forth.
“Title 9 is the law,” said Ron Frantz, member of the Quilcene school board.
“This is an interpretation, it is not the law,” replied member of the School Board of Quilcene, Viviann Kuehl. “The law nowhere says that only biological men can play biological male sports, by tradition. It is not in title 9.”
“I am probably the only one to have read the whole title 9,” said Frantz.
“I did it myself, that doesn’t say that,” said Kuehl.
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has a policy that allows transgender students to participate in sports programs in accordance with their gender identity. Politics have been in place since 2007.
Fox 13 Seattle contacted the school district concerning the prohibition. We are waiting to hear them.
