A Washington postal worker, DC, was convicted last week to have stolen more than $ 1.6 million in American Treasury checks and private mail parties to finance a “sumptuous lifestyle,” said officials.
Hachikosela Muchimba, 44, was an employee of the American postal service. Between December 2020 and March 2023, Muchimba filed modified checks in bank accounts under his control, according to a press release From the American lawyer’s office, Columbia district on Friday.

A jury Thursday recognized Muchimba guilty of conspiracy in order to commit a flight of mail and bank fraud, theft of mail, bank fraud and to engage in a monetary transaction in goods from a specified illegal activity. The maximum penalty for banking fraud is 30 years in prison and five years for theft of mail.
Muchimba was also found guilty of illegal purchasing of citizenship or naturalization.
