CPL. Mathew Howell told Global News that a train was carrying grain while the other train was carrying a battery load.
“The initial reports have indicated a possible insufficiency of the brakes”, cpl. Said Howell.
The railway says that consequently, several cars carrying grains have derailed.
No injury has been reported.
Michnowski says that CN Crews as well as the first local speakers remain on the scene to investigate.
“There was no fire or dangerous material involved, the tracks remain closed at the time. CN would like to apologize for the disadvantages caused by this incident,” Michnowski said in a statement.
The railroad adds that there is no risk to the public.
The cause is still being studied.
