Tyler Sabapathy, 18, died Tuesday after falling from the top of a street post he climbed during public celebrations in the streets of Philadelphia during the weekend. Witnesses told the Associated Press that Sabapathy fell on the sidewalk and hit his head.
Temple University, where Sabapathy was a first -year student, confirmed her death in a statement on Tuesday evening.
“There are no words that can understand it, and the whole temple community cries its death. Our hearts go to Tyler’s family, friends, classmates and all those who knew and loved him, “said school.
“He undoubtedly had a brilliant future ahead of him, and it is so tragic that we will not be able to see how he would have made his mark on the world.”
Sabapathy frequented the Temple’s College of Public Health, said the school, and specialized in exercise and the sports sciences. It was an accomplished gymnast and won more than 120 medals in provincial, regional and international competitions.

He was also a member of the university club gymnastics team and spent countless hours training and perfecting his job, added the school.
Before frequenting temple, Sabapathy studied at St. Michael College School (SMCS) in Toronto. When he undertook to attend Temple, the school declared in a history on his website which he grew up training and contributed for East York Gymnastics Club.
Sabapathy has attributed to his mother to have spent hours each week leading him to and from the gymnasium to welcome his training schedule, the school wrote.
St. Michael’s told Global News on Wednesday that it was “the broken heart” by his death.
“Tyler was an exceptional student-athlete, a talented gymnast and a friend of many within the SMCS community. His joy for life, his spirit and his exceptional pursuit of excellence inspired us all, “said the school.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the Sabapathy family. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult period. The St. Michael’s College school will continue to honor its memory and support each other in the coming days. »»
