The security of the British royal family is funded by British taxpayers, to which Harry and Meghan are no longer entitled.
Earlier this year, the Duke of Sussex faced a defeat in a legal case concerning the demotion of his level of personal security.
Thinking about the verdict, he told the BBC: “I am devastated – not as much as devastated by the loss that I am on the people behind the decision, feeling as if it was correct. Is it a victory for them?”.
He continued by saying that he will not pursue legal proceedings, because the judgment “proved that there was no way to win this before the courts”.
After the verdict, he also added that he “cannot see a world in which I would bring my wife and children to the United Kingdom to this stage”.
