Sioux Falls was appointed the best city in the country for small businesses, according to a classification of B2B journals.
The methodology examined five key measures using data from the US census office, which considers that a small company is one with 500 employees or less and at least $ 1,000 in annual income.
Here is how Sioux Falls behaved in all categories analyzed:
- The city’s population as a state percentage: 23.28%
- City GDP percentage of the GDP of the State: 0.041%
- City unemployment rate: 1.5%
- Percentage of small businesses in the county: 25.24%
- Average hourly salary: $ 27.02
Sioux Falls was helped in the classification by its low unemployment rate and its high percentage of small businesses within the State.

The same organization also recently examined the best states in which to start a business. The southern Dakota has classified ninth according to tax policies, the growth rate of small businesses, the probability of business survival, global economic health and labor-related statistics.
