A Winnipeg golfer, aged 89, proves that age is not a reason to slow down.
Hank Plouffe, who will be 90 years old in July, strikes Bel Acres Golf & Country Club, just north of Winnipeg, five days a week, Monday to Friday.
“It is the pleasure of the friendship of people you play,” said Plouffe. “It’s a game; There is fun. “
And it was the friendship that attracted Plouffe, which makes an average of around 70 games per season, at the Golf 57 years ago.
“I had a very good friend who was a very good golfer, and died on the golf course in Pinawa,” said Plouffe.
“He was my best friend and he launched me in the golf course, and from that moment, it continued.”

Despite decades on the route, Plouffe always knows the first. During his lifetime, he has eight holes in one. The two most recent were shot just the other weekend at the Golf Netley Creek course.

“I hit the ball and I didn’t look up, and he said,” My God seems to pass in the hole. I said, “Yeah,” said Plouffe, who golf with his family at the time.
“I took a club and I was looking around for the green for the ball and they all stood around the hole and I said:” It’s in the hole! We told you! “”
Then came the unthinkable – a second hole in one in the same turn.
“We go up to number 12, and it’s a short hole, and I removed my nine iron and I hit the ball and this time I looked up, and of course, he hit the green and bent directly into the hole,” he said
“And I said:” I can’t believe it happens “. Two holes in a race in a tour … it’s incredible.”
The chances of occurring are around 67 million to one.
“Well, I was not so surprised, he is a good golfer,” said Brian Kaluznick, who golf with Plouffe in Bel Acres for about 40 years.
“It’s an incredible feat … and especially for a guy who is only 89 years old.”
Plouffe strikes Bel Acres Golf & Country Club about five times a week.

But Plouffe attributes it to a stroke of luck.
“Usually attention as this is for heroes,” said Plouffe. “I’m not a hero, I’m just an everyday golfer.”
But some things – like Plouffe’s state of mind and the active stay – cannot be credited to luck.
“Everyone is going to have a bad blow, everyone will have a decent shot. Don’t forget the right ones,” he said.
“Bads, well, support them and forget it. (Just) keep active, it’s great.”
