The round table discusses the creation of technological pipeline

The Center on Rural Innovation and the Selma and Dallas County Chamber of Commerce have joined together the managers of the community to talk about how to create a technological pipeline to connect local students to career opportunities.
Cameryn Mitchell, with the center, said that the round table of the Selma community, held on Monday morning at the Public Library of the County of Selma-Dallas, was designed to promote a discussion on the way the region Can attract technological jobs and talk about obstacles to students in the education system in the face of obtaining these jobs.
“Our goal today was to listen to the community and listen to them on the types of opportunities they would like to see here in Selma for technological jobs,” said Mitchell.
The group presented a wide variety of community stakeholders, including the Superintendent of the Dallas County School, Anthony Sampson and the director of career technologies for Selma City schools, Miranda Bissoo, among others. The discussion has covered a certain number of community gaps in technology in which students and young potential employees are confronted.
Part of the discussion also explained how the community, local businesses and managers can do to promote the positive aspects of the community.
Mitchell said the data they have collected from this discussion and other data they have collected in recent months will be used to generate a report for the city to see how they can start building a strategy To attract technological jobs while attracting and keeping those potential employees to stay in the county of Selma and Dallas.
“We had an excellent discussion today,” said Mitchell.
