The deadline to finish June 6 has passed.
It had to end one day.
There may be 12 additional days of session if the legislators OK of a resolution filed by the president of the rules of the Chamber.
Republican on the island of Fleming. Sam GarrisonA future loudspeaker of the room, deposited HCR 1635 Wednesday evening. It would crush the current extension approved through a resolution adopted at the end of the ordinary session.
HCR 1631 pushed the end date of the legislative session from 2025 from May 2 to June 6; The follow -up of Garrison would be added to 12 additional days, allowing the session to continue until June 18.
Another extension was fatality. The constitution of the State requires a difference of 72 hours – or a “cooling period” – between the moment when the budget is printed and the moment when the legislators vote on it.
To comply with the current deadline, the budget should have been made Tuesday at 11:59 p.m., while legislators have made progress in a spending agreement, the 2025-2010 budget is far from settled.
In addition to fixing a new deadline, session extensions must explicitly and specifically list the legislation which is always on the table.
The list of invoices in HCR 1635 limits the legislators to series 2500 and 5000, which include the main budget invoice of each room (SB 2500 / HB 5001) and the various implementation invoices putting them into action.
Legislators can also consider legislation linked to the state pension system (SB 7022), good schoolchildren (SB 7030) and a reduction in the sales tax (HB 7031) – The latter is a vehicle for the reduction of the sales tax of 0.75% pushed by the Chamber of the Chamber of the Chamber Daniel Perez.
Especially absent is SB 110, the cornerstone of the President of the Senate Ben Albritton Priority “Rural Renaissance”. The bill received a unanimous vote in the Senate almost three months ago, but finally founded in the House.
The two chambers must approve HCR 1635 so that it comes into effect.
