Washington – The Républicains de la Chambre unveiled the “big, beautiful, beautiful bill” centerpiece by President Donald Trump, at least $ 880 billion in largely MEDICAIDD discounts to help cover the cost of 4.5 billions of dollars in tax alternatives.

What you need to know

  • The Republicans of the Chamber unveiled the economic center of the “big and beautiful bill” by President Donald Trump “
  • The legislation has hundreds of pages and implies at least $ 880 billion in large parts in Medicaid, the country’s health care program for more than 70 million Americans
  • Savings are necessary to help cover the cost of $ 4.5 billion in tax reductions. But this triggers the greatest political fight on health care since the Republicans tried but have failed to repeal and replace the affordable care law during Trump’s first mandate
  • Democrats warn that millions of Americans will lose coverage
  • And a republican, senator Josh Hawley, warned his colleagues in an editorial on Monday that the reduction of health care to pay tax loss would be “morally false and politically suicidal”

Given the hundreds of pages, the legislation revealed Sunday at the end of Sunday affects the greatest political struggle concerning health care since the Republicans tried but failed to repeal and replace the affordable, or Obamacare law, during Trump’s first mandate in 2017.

While the Republicans insist that they simply eliminate “waste, fraud and abuse” to generate savings with new working and eligibility conditions, Democrats warn that millions of Americans will lose coverage. A preliminary estimate of the non -partisan congress budget office said that the proposals would reduce the number of people with 8.6 million health care during the decade.

“Savings like these allow us to use this bill to renew Trump’s tax reductions and keep the Republicans’ promise to working-class families in the middle class,” said Kentucky Brett Guthrie representative, president of the GOP of the Energy and Trade Committee, which manages health care expenses.

But the Democrats said that the cuts are “shameful” and essentially constitute another attempt at Obamacare abrogation.

“In fact, millions of Americans will lose their healthcare coverage,” said New Jersey’s Frank Pallone representative, the best Democrat in the Panel. He said that “hospitals will close, the elderly will not be able to access the care they need and that premiums will increase for millions of people if this bill adopts.”

While the Republicans are heading for the Memorial Day deadline of the Chamber’s president to adopt the big Trump’s tax reductions and spending reductions, they prepare to flood the area with 24 hours a day public hearings on various sections before they are assembled in what will become a massive set.

The coming policy is uncertain. More than a dozen Republicans of the Chamber told the leaders of Johnson and the GOP that they will not support the discounts of health care safety networking programs on which residents at home depend. Trump himself has moved away from a rehearsal of his first mandate, promising that there will be no cuts to Medicaid.

A republican, senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, warned his colleagues in an editorial on Monday that the reduction of health care to pay tax alternatives would be “morally false and politically suicidal”.

All in all, 11 Chamber Committees have compiled their package sections while the Republicans are looking for at least 1.5 billion of dollars in savings to help cover the cost of preserving tax alternatives of 2017, which were approved during Trump’s first mandate and expire at the end of the year.

But the powerful energy and trade committee was among the most monitored. The Committee was invited to find $ 880 billion in savings and achieved this objective, mainly with health care cuts, but also by returning to the green energy programs in the Biden era. CBO’s preliminary analysis said that the committee’s proposals would reduce the deficit of $ 912 billion during the decade – with at least $ 715 billion from health provisions.

At the heart of savings, changes to Medicaid, which provide almost free health care to more than 70 million Americans, and the affordable care law, which has been extended during the 15 years since it was approved for the first time to cover millions of others.

To be eligible for Medicaid, there would be new “community engagement requirements” of at least 80 hours per month of work, education or service for valid adults without load. People should also check their eligibility to be part of the program twice a year, rather than once. The bill also adds a more rigorous income verification for those who register for the coverage of health care of the affordable care law.

This is likely to lead to more unsubscribe in the program and to present obstacles so that people remain covered, especially if they have to go far to a local benefits office to check their income in person. But the Republicans say that this will guarantee that the program is administered to those who qualify.

Some Medicaid beneficiaries earn more than 100% of the federal poverty level – around $ 32,000 per year for a family of four – should also pay costs on foot for certain services. These costs, which would not apply to visits to emergency, prenatal care, pediatric visits or primary care controls, would be limited to $ 35 per visit.

And the candidates could not qualify for Medicaid if they have a house which is evaluated at more than a million dollars.

The proposed bill also targets all immigrants who live in the country illegally or without documentation. It reduces by 10% the share that the federal government pays in states – like New York or California – which allow immigrants to register for Medicaid. To qualify for the coverage of the ACA, registrants should prove that they are “legally present”.

Other measures would transfer costs to all states.

Many states have expanded their Medicaid lists thanks to federal incentives, but legislation would reduce an increase of 5% which was implemented during the Pandemic COVID-19.

There would be a frost on the so -called service providers tax that some states use to help pay large parts of their Medicaid programs. Additional tax often leads to higher payments of the federal government, which, according to criticism, is an escape which allows states to swell their budgets.

The energy parties of the legislation work much less pages, but include the withdrawals of climate change strategies, Joe Biden, reported the law in the law on the reduction of inflation.

It proposes to cancel funds for a range of energy loans and investment programs while offering an accelerated permit for the development of natural gas and oleagnes.
