WASHINGTON – the American Department of Energy (DOE) announced today the change of name of its Office of Technology Transitions (OTT) at the Office of Technology Marketing (OTC). The new name reflects the emphasis on Doe on the transformation of scientific breakthroughs into real results – supporting the full way of research and development to the deployment of the private sector and economic impact.
“The mission of this office is to ensure that the American public sees real advantages of the science which they finance, through new businesses, jobs and technologies that make energy more affordable, reliable and secure,” said Anthony Pugliese, Director of Marketing of the DOE and Director of the Technology Marketing Office. “This rebate is a clear signal that the Ministry of Energy favors marketing and increases our concentration on the supply of results for the American people.”
The office serves as the main resource of the DOE to accelerate the impact of innovation funded by the federal government. The updated name brings clarity to this role – strengthening the commitment of the DOE to connect public research with the demand of the private sector and the national advantages. Discoveries emerging in the national Laboratories of DOE to regional ecosystems which help to put them on scale, the impact of the real world depends on the coordinated efforts between science, capital and industry.
OTC oversees a portfolio of initiatives that cover the marketing pipeline, including the Technology marketing fund, I-CORPS energyand the Energytech University Prize—Programs that support entrepreneurial training, development at an early stage and private sector partnerships. OTC also leads EPIC—The energy program for innovation clusters – which strengthens regional innovation ecosystems thanks to support for incubators and accelerators across the country.
The change of brand is aligned with President Trump’s priorities to concentrate the DEE resources on efforts which provide measurable results for the American people – the difficulty of the economy, the improvement of energy independence and the clear demonstration of taxpayers.
