National Public Health Week was responsible for the University of Nevada, Reno School of Public Health.
On Monday, April 7, more than 75 teachers, employees, students and members of the community participated in the day of public secession in the legislature of the State of Nevada in Carson City.
Dr. Muge Akpinar-Elci, dean of the School of Public Health, and Eric Crosbie, Ph.D., associate professor and graduate director of administration and policy of social and behavioral health, were welcomed in the Senate by the leader of the majority of the Senate, Nicole J. Cannizzaro.
During a ceremony at lunchtime, the prices of the University of Nevada, Reno Public Health Champion were awarded to key legislators in recognition of their commitment to advance public health through the State. Akpinar-Elci and Megan Comlossy, deputy, director of public and political affairs of the public health school, led the ceremony.

Prix recipients included the chief of the minorities of the Senate Robin L. Titus; Assembly of the Tracy Brown-May assembly; Assembly of the Assembly and head of the Gregory T. Hafen minority; And Senator Fabian makes a donation, majority assistant whip.
The event also presented presentations of student posters and the participation of representatives of Public health in northern Nevada,, Carson City Health and Human ServicesTHE Office of State of Nevada EpidemiologyTHE Kenny Guinn center for political priorities and others.
The winners of the School Public Health Competition presented their projects to the Nevada Assembly Commission on Health and Social Services. The students of the Little Flower School in Reno also joined the events of the day, presenting their projects Fair of Robotics focused on public health for members of the assembly and guests throughout the day.

The celebrations continue on Thursday, April 10, with the resilience of the buildings: Giving Today, for tomorrow, an open door event marking the first anniversary of the moving of the School of Public Health at the Edna S. Brigham and the university donation day. The event will host the faculty, the staff, the students, the university leadership and the community partners for an afternoon of connection and celebration.
