Tyler, Texas – Eat well and make sure people eat appropriate nutritious foods is essential for a healthy lifestyle.
Experts say a good nutrition feeds the body. It is the national nutrition month, which encourages people to make healthier choices and develop healthy habits.
Dr. Madhura Maiya, deputy professor in the UT Tyler Kinesiology Department, said that during this week’s well-being, it is important to have dense nutrient foods, like those who are rich in fiber and those who have a good water content.
“And when more nutrition arrives, no more nutrients come into play. Bad things decrease. We see reduced fat consumption, we see a reduced sugar consumption, we see a reduced salt consumption. So, overall, it becomes healthier, and it is always preferable to have the right combination of good energy and good nutrients mixed,” said Maiya.
Regarding fibers, fresh and local fruits and vegetables are the best way to follow. Vegetables and frozen fruits are good substitutes when people are unable to buy costs.
Maiya said the protein is vital and serves several functions, such as muscle growth, antibodies and hormones.
“The quality of proteins is therefore very important to have an idea of how we can divide them and how much we should eat in a day. I think the best way to understand is to look at my plate.”, She said.
The theme of the national nutrition month this year is the food that connects people.
“And it focuses more on connection with our culture, the connection with our friends, with our families, the service of meals baked at home. This is another way to bring nutrition, bring our package, nutrition in our meals, prepare homemade meals, understand the ingredients that go to our meals,” said Maiya. “It brings us a control in our preparation of food. We learn what we eat, we understand what we eat and what it does to our health. And it’s a good way to eat better.”
