Some members of the Halifax Regional Council contribute to the province to weigh on municipal issues.
Last week, Nova Scotia Prime Minister Tim Houston Reassure themselves with the mayor of the city on his motion calling for any construction of the cycle path.
Now, some wonder how far provincial surpassing will go between the government of Houston and the mayor Andy Fillmore.

“It is really an undemocratic development because many HRM plans have been drawn up with the public, during public audiences or making public consultations. So when the province intervenes and demands, they really prevail over HRM residents, “said Coun. Kathryn Morse.
Lori Turnbull, the professor of the political scientist at the University of Dalhousie, does not expect the province to slow down by wanting his word to Halifax.
She says that looking at Houston weighing on the mayor’s cycle path was not surprising.
“He sees someone with whom he can do business with Fillmore and a feeling of insight around some of these development problems and an understanding that, you know, we could be good partners,” she said.
In a statement on Monday, Fillmore did not expressed his concern about the province involved in municipal issues.
“Since his entry into office in 2021, the Prime Minister has intervened on municipal issues in order to advance our collective objectives to build a stronger municipality,” he wrote.
When he was asked to comment on the concerns raised by the advisers on a possible overtaking, Houston reiterated in a press release from his support for the request of Fillmore on the cycle paths.
