The popularity of pickleball continues to grow, according to Pickleball Canada.
A million Canadians resumed racket sport with low impact in 2022, according to the organization. By 2025, this number has reached approximately 1.54 million.
“We see more people playing, no more horizons playing,” said Chelsey Hobson, physiotherapist with the advanced physio. “Young people, the elderly, so we see an increase in injuries, just due to the increase in the population who benefits from the game.”

Injuries can go from pain to the elbow, knee, wrist or shoulders to more serious injuries such as a head of the head, a tear of the LCA, a rupture of Achilles or severe veal strains.
Recovery of serious cases can take weeks and sometimes requires crutches or surgery.
An Edmonton physiotherapist office and a clinic walk said that new injuries related to pickleball arrived at least once a week in recent months. They say that does not include existing patients with new injuries.
