Naples, Florida – Alberto Varitto, owner of Alberto’s in fifth in Naples, takes proactive measures to protect his restaurant from future damage caused by hurricanes after having undergone devastating floods three years ago during Hurricane Ian.

The floods completely devastated his restaurant, erasing the work of his life.

“It was bad,” he said.

In its recovery efforts, Varitto has found ways to prevent future damage caused by floods.

Water borders the floor in Alberto's kitchen.

Alberto’s cuisine was completely flooded after Hurricane Ian.

Mark Crabtree, director of innovation at Xero Technologies, has developed a tailor -made inflatable barrier designed to protect the doors during floods.

“He expands to the outside and put himself pressure as part of the door,” said Crabtree.

The product is tailor -made to adapt to any opening size.

“Regardless of the size of the opening, the size of the opening, we build it at the waist,” said Crabtree.

Crabtree hopes that other Naples companies will follow Alberto because business is better when everyone is open.

“If everyone is flooding, and he doesn’t do it, then Naples city center will have died anyway,” said Crabtree. “What he doesn’t want and no one wants.”

With this new technology in place, Alberto can focus on his passion, serving the inhabitants of southwest Florida. He says, to start preparing now, long before any storm.

“Don’t wait until the Vienne hurricane, but start working and prepare yourself,” said Varitto.
