Residents and business owners interviewed Damage to Ada on Sunday morning after a tornado approached the night.
A business owner is devastated after losing his donut shop and his motel, which was his livelihood for two decades.
“It was shocking. I received a call from a normal guest from the hotel, called me that our hotel had been struck by the tornado last night,” said Jr Ean, owner of the motel.
Jr Ean has managed the Quality Inn Motel on Richardson Loop for over 20 years and added Ada Donuts last year.
“We have run since 2005. So far. But you know, things happen. Mother Nature can do the damage,” said Ean.
He says that seeing his business ruined on Sunday morning caused an emotional rush.
“Many, a lot … These are hard feelings,” he said in tears. “You know, a person who has been struck, is never me. This is what it is me this time so it’s difficult. “
The tornado has severely damaged the motel roof and moved around 30 guests – which moved to a local storm refuge in Ada.
According to the management of emergencies of the Pontotoc county, a person who stood outside the motel while the tornado had come by minor injuries suffered and was transported to the hospital.
Alongside EAN companies – the North Hill shopping center and at least half a dozen houses were damaged in the night tornado.
But Ean says that Ada will recover.
“It will come together,” said Ean.
