The concern is developing among some local officials about the proposed budget of the city of Buffalo while the primary of the Democratic mayor is warmed up.
The director of the County of Erie, Mark Poloncarz, said that his office had examined the budget proposed by the interim mayor Chris Scanlon and had found a certain number of differences.
PolonCarz is a member of the city’s tax stability authority required by state law. In a letter sent to the Executive Director of the Authority, Poloncarz raises concerns of budgeting according to the articles which are not guaranteed, such as the sale of $ 26.5 million in the city’s parking ramps to a new state authority which still requires the approval of the state legislature.
The county’s executive also claims that some revenues are overestimated while others are sub-bunget.
Spectrum News 1 Contacted Scanlon for an answer to the county executive and his office said that a statement will be published this weekend.
The city controller, Barbara Miller-Williams, and the state senator April Baskin have both raised similar concerns concerning the proposed budget.
Scanlon offers a budget of $ 622 million with an increase in the tax by 8%. The acting mayor is currently presenting itself in a six -year democrat primary for the mayor against the senator from the State Sean Ryan, who is approved by the Democrats of the County of Erie, the former Buffalo Garnell Whitfield fire commissioner, the common advisor Rasheed Wyatt, the community organizer Anthony Tyson Thyson and the non -profit founder Michael Gainer.
