
Plant City Entertainment Community Theater is the center of performance and theatrical events of Plant City. His 2025-26 theater season is in full swing with his next play, UsuallyFrom Friday April 25 and racing until Monday, May 5.
“Plant City is one of the oldest, if not the oldest community theater in Florida,” said Kelley Powell, director of Play. “We do everything with volunteers and are known for our famous Frank Brownies that we serve at our concession stand every night. We strive to provide quality entertainment to our community by making four shows per year. ”
Usually is a Jones Hope Wooten Play and is a series of Wooten’s Nature farce play. The play is a comedy that focuses on Reel ‘Em Inn, the best little ozarks fishing lodge. The owner, D. Gene Wilburn, is looking forward to a peaceful weekend on the lake. But there are only two chances that it happens: slim and none. Wilburn’s wife Wilburn chose these three days in White-Knuckle through the withdrawal of caffeine, and there are also more family and guests from Hijinks from the Auberge.
“We like to play their game because our audience loves them and they are very fun to play,” said Powell. “What I like best is to do and tell the stories of playwrights.”
Powell has been involved in the entertainment sector for over 40 years.
“I made my first game for Plant City Entertainment at 14 when an actor left, and I entered the role of Terry in the room Babes in the arms“Said Powell.” As a interpreter or behind the scenes, I worked for cruise ships or themed parks and professional theater concerts for more than 20 years, then returned home to Plant City to live. »»
Powell also sat on the board of directors of Plant City Entertainment Community.
“I really love working and seeing this little growing theater,” said Powell. “My hope for this show is that the public can escape for two hours in a sitcom like Environment and Belly Laugh about these wacky characters and the ridiculous things in which they are doing. I have the impression at the moment in our world, we all need to laugh more, and that is why I like these pieces.”
