Rockford, ill. (WIFR) – Combining environmental sciences with large -scale external art: this is the vision of the exhibition `rooted in Rockford: Art and Tree Science ”, opening Saturday at Klehm Arboretum.
This exhibition presents illustrations based on the roots of eight artists from Illinois. Peter Mera de Rockford is the only local artist who will be presented his play.
“It would be a perfect opportunity to incorporate a dream for life to see what happens to a painting over a year and do something for Rockford,” said Mera.
Mera and others were responsible for interpreting the concept of roots through materials such as metal, concrete, rubber and canvas. His play plays erosion. Mera Michael’s friend built the easel using local metal. Mera created the Rockford card.
“There are colored pastilles mixed with the rocks on the top, so when it rains, it will be a colorful cascade,” said Mera. “I’m going to come here with my daughter sporadically and see what nature does to my art.”
“These are in very intentional places. Some will provide shadows as the sun moves throughout the day. Some imitate the shape of a neighboring tree, “said executive director Alex Mills. “Part of this occurred on an accident, happy circumstances where sculptures leaning in the same way as a tree in the background.”
Mulls said that these parts reflect the way the roots support trees and plants, but symbolize connections that base our common environment.
“The interpretation by the theme artist is fantastic. Everyone had a different vision. The sculptures are all different mediums, textures, ”said Mills. “The place is built to exhibit arts outdoors like this.”
Klehm is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and the exhibition can be seen from tomorrow. It takes place in May 2026.
