The National Science Foundation has more than simply cutting the wings of the associate professor of Virginia Tech, Ashley Dayer when he canceled his subsidy of 1.5 million dollars by examining the food of birds.

DAYER, recognizing what she called “shock, frustration, stress and sorrow,” said the cancellation of the April 18 grant, which represents a false economy.

“There is nothing efficiency about it,” said Dayer on Friday. “We had spent years and more than a million dollars to design this study and collect data. We have now lost funding for the analysis and sharing of results. ”

DAYER has described his work as a “participatory scientific project” involving thousands of volunteers in birds. According to the summary of subsidies, more than 57 million American residents are involved in the food of birds, which can “affect the number and diversity of birds, increase the number of predators in an area and increase the transmission of diseases in birds” as well as to influence “mental well-being” in humans.
