A 37 -year -old man died in police custody after the police responded to a service call at Bedford, NS, where the authorities say he felt an episode of mental health.
Halifax regional police said they had responded to Farringdon Way block 70 around 10:20 p.m. Friday.
The police said that the man had become aggressive, which prompted the police to use a taser. The struggle continued, but the authorities were able to take control of man, handcuff and call the emergency health services (EHS).

According to the authorities, man’s health began to show signs of deterioration when he was in detention. Police began safeguarding efforts, including the use of naloxone, which were prosecuted by EHS and the Halifax regional fires and emergencies when they arrived.
The man was transported to the hospital where he was declared dead.
“Police expresses sincere condolences to the family of man and relatives,” police said in a press release.
Nova Scotia medical service will lead an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The incident was referred to the provincial police guard dog for an investigation.
Friday’s incident is the second this week in which a person died when he was in police custody of the Halifax police, although the two cases were not linked, which prompted the serious incident to investigate.
