The organization of Texas Education Technology Leaders (TETL) recognized the ISD Aldine Department of Technology and Superintendent Dr Latonya M. Goffney for their innovation, their leadership and their commitment to use technology to transform education during the TETL 2025 summer conference at Woodlands Waterway Marriott.
The Aldine ISD technology department, under the direction of information director Adam Galvan, won the TETL TETL Prize for the TETL team for exceptional technological leadership across the district. Galvan and his team were recognized for their leadership in the development of robust technological systems, secure and transparently integrated into daily teaching practices.
“Thanks to a shared commitment in their main mission -” students learn, support teachers so that they can teach and ensure that students and staff data remain safe ” – this team has implemented visionary and impactful technological initiatives that reshaped teaching and learning in the 80 district campuses,” said Greg Grimes, president elected by the board of directors of the TETL. “From a deployment on the district scale of more than 30,000 interactive touch screen devices – intentionally selected to support hand learning and to accommodate various learning styles – to the successful launch of Magicschool IA, an innovative tool providing personalized and immediate comments for students, the team has established a new standard to align technology with teaching.”
The technological team was recognized for its meticulous planning, its robust management of devices, targeted training and transparent integration of technology in daily practice – creating accessible and enriching learning environments for each student.
“This team illustrates the best of what the price of the TETL team represents, and we are honored to recognize their leadership, innovation and service to the students, staff and families of Aldine ISD,” said Grimes.
The Department of Technology would not be what it is today without the vision and leadership of the Superintendent of Aldine Isd, Dr. Latonya Mr. Goffney.
Each year, TETL honors a superintendent which illustrates visionary leadership and a strong commitment to use technology to transform education. Dr. Goffney has been recognized for its daring leadership and transformer in a district where more than 91% of students are economically disadvantaged and almost half are emerging bilingual learners.
Dr. Goffney was appointed recipient of the Autonomous Superintendent Prize 2025. Under his direction, Aldine Isd has made significant progress in closing the digital fracture by ensuring that each student has access to devices, internet connectivity and essential digital learning tools. These efforts have not only improved academic results, but also laid the foundations for long -term equity and excellence in teaching and learning.
“Dr. Goffney is a catalyst for systemic change,” said Grimes. “His vision and determination allowed Aldine ISD to create an inclusive and innovative educational environment where all students can prosper, regardless of socioeconomic status.”
The two prices highlight the engagement on the scale of the Aldine ISD district to use technology as a powerful tool for the transformation, fairness and success of students. For more information on the prices of the superintendent and the authorized teams, visit www.tetl.org.
