Jacksonville, Illinois (WGEM) – After a tornado has flattened the popular sports complex for future champions, more than 300 residents have helped cleaning.
On Wednesday, a tornado flattened the popular sports complex of future champions in Jacksonville, and the community presented itself to help clean it.
“We said:” OK, we meet at 1:00 pm “It was yesterday, and I think we had more than 300 people who showed what was wonderful,” said the owner of the complex Kristin Jamison.
More than 300 people showed up to tear off the fence, remove the debris and collect the insulation that had flocked to the field after the training center on the other side of the street was torn in half by the tornado.
“The community really gets together around children and maintains sport alive,” said volunteer Brandon Reed.
The Jamison family was to welcome their battered baseball and softball tournament this weekend. Despite the damage, the family will always welcome the tournament, although the matches have played in Jacksonville fields.
“It would have been easy to say:” The guys, we had a tornado, we are not going to play this weekend “, but when you had 50 teams that planned to come here, you feel an obligation towards these teams,” said Jamiston.
The Jamison’s said that the restaurant’s restaurant opposite the fields will remain open.
